As the U.S. population ages, gasoline prices rise, and the rural areas and suburbs served only by the automobile lose their appeal, urban areas served by transit (subway, light rail, trolleys, and even buses) are becoming more attractive, and planning efforts are focusing on maximizing the usefulness of these transit locations.
